My son sent me a You tube video yesterday (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx9GxXYKx_8&feature=youtube_gdata_player) which portrayed the school in Newtown, CT as a movie set, alleging that the entire shootings there were all fabricated. He wanted my opinion about it. Here is what I told him:
I don’t have a difficult time believing stuff like this. Fast and Furious failed and everyone knows what the government tried to do with that: to make the public cry out for gun control. If this doesn’t succeed, watch for more and pray we are never a victim.
As
God works through people who love Him, so does the devil. His ways may not always be murder and mayhem but deception, lies and half-truths as well.
Whatever happened in Newtown,
Tucson, or Aurora, try to see it through spiritual eyes. The government wants to use things like this to get more control over our lives, just like
Satan does. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted from what is really happening.
As hard as it may be to see the connection, it is always about the Word of God. Our focus in life needs to be about getting people saved and teaching them the truth; giving people the spirit of God that is able to enable them to discern the truth from a lie. Arguing with people over whether this happened or not as it has been portrayed in the media is an attempt to sidetrack us from what really matters.
I was raised learning how to shoot a .410 shotgun. Once I was out-hunting my father with that, he gave me a .22 rifle, so I would have to be more accurate. I missed a lot more than my Dad did after that. I learned to be sportsman, giving animals a fighting chance and being more safe around other hunters. Rifles for squirrels,
shotguns for dove and quail. I was probably 12 or 13 when I got a .16 guage shotgun from my grandfather. Guns were a way of life in the country, (as opposed to the city) where you could hunt. They are part of the fabric of America.
Yet as important as
guns are, nothing stands in the way more for those with the agenda of destroying America, the last vestige of hope on earth, than the
Bible. Guns may very well protect you in this life, but they aren’t going to do you much good in the next. Our focus and energy needs to be spent on preparing people for
Eternity, foremostly. Once that is accomplished and their
eternal life is secured we can then make the argument that gun ownership procures the right to carry a Bible. Being able to defend ourselves both foreign and domestic is a right that pre-dates the Constitution. But, guns aren’t the issue, freedom is. Those who want us to give up our guns are going to keep theirs!
Let the people who created this video fight the fight they have chosen to fight. Let us fight the fight we have chosen.
1 Ti 6:11-12
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
God bless,
